His and Hers

Two weeks ago, Eric went on a backpacking trip with his brothers in the San Juan mountains. These boys don't get together often so I was glad they were able to spend some time together, but I was jealous of the beautiful scenery they saw without me!
Only wildflowers are worthy of Eric's adoration and these definitely met the mark.
Ryan, Adam, Eric
While the guys were gone, Ryan's wife Kristie and I got to stay behind and manage 6 kids. The kids had a great time together and it was great to see Kristie, but I have to say I was looking forward to the next weekend when I got to leave Eric behind with the kiddos while I went to LA!
Seven of my closest friends from Freshman year at BYU got together in Venice Beach for the weekend. We shopped in Santa Monica, went to dinner at the Getty Museum, lounged for hours at the beach, ate delicious food, and stayed up way too late reminiscing and catching up. It was the perfect weekend!
Melissa G. (the awesome organizer of the trip) and Melissa R.
Shauna, Mehrsa, and Allison
The eight hot mamas - I love you girls!
Since Eric and I had both been off on our own adventures for the last two weeks, we thought we should do something together, so Eric came up with a very unique date for us. Those who know him know that he is a serious hunter, and in his search this year for new hunting area he found a place that looked awesome but could only be accessed by boat. Soooo, he bought an inflatable kayak and we rafted through rapids to the mountain Eric wanted to check out. Then we literally hiked up a mountain. There were no trails, no bare hillsides, just rocks and scrub oak to be plowed through until we got to the top. This picture was taken near the bottom, we should have taken a picture at the top so you could fully appreciate what we hiked through.
After hiking down, we had to kayak to where our car was parked. We went through some pretty rough rapids and the kayak handled superbly. We hadn't done anything like this since before we had kids and we had a good time. Eric definitely knows how to create exciting outdoor experiences!

What fun getaways for both of you. You both deserve it! And your date together definitely beats dinner and a movie! Great pics.

You guys are the toughest and awesomest couple ever. For our date tonight, we are going to a movie. I second what someone just said, do not tell my husband that wives like you exist. It was so great seeing you Megan. You are as beautiful, fun, and hilarious as ever.
