Last weekend, Eric and I flew to Colorado to check out some potential practice areas. After being disappointed in two places and crossing them off our list, we arrived in Montrose, Colorado and fell in love. This is a picture of the road driving into Montrose, obviously we didn't take it (I think it's probably summer in this shot) but you get the idea, it's gorgeous! There are mountain views like this all around. Montrose is a small town (roughly 20,000) but it is growing by leaps and bounds. Everywhere we looked there were new shopping centers and homes being built. We went to three wards in Montrose and met some really nice people, and most importantly there seemed to be lots of young couples with little kids. We left Montrose convinced that it is the place we want to eventually end up, but there is currently no endodontist there so Eric would have to start his own practice. We really didn't want to do that straight out of school, but after all other prospects have fallen through it is the only option we are left with. After a week of mulling it over, we both feel it is the right thing to do, but it is still so scary!
It's hard to believe we are really doing this, but I just sent the retainer check out to our consultant so I guess it's official. If all else continues to go smoothly, we will be moving to Montrose in August. By the looks of this picture, fall is a nice time to visit, so start planning your trips to visit the Barnhursts in Montrose!

4 hours and 52 minutes. Just in case you were wondering how far from Denver you are going to be. Yay....back in Colorado!!! We are going to be practically neighbors!....ok not quite, but it's better than philly. We've got to find a good camping/climbing spot in between Denver and Montrose and we'll meet in the middle....deal? I think you are getting quite the compromise....Montrose is not California, but it has got to be bigger than Salmon ID. Jared and I are thinking we'd like to end up in Colorado someday.....far from now when he get's this crazy itch for school out of his system. I think Jared is still in morning from you guys leaving the first time, so he'll be glad to hear you are settling in CO. Congrats, and good luck!
Holy COW!!! That place is GORGEOUS!! Are there any Oral Surgeons there? :)
I"m so excited for you guys!
So exciting. You have so much to do and so much going on. I guess this means you are growing up.
It's great to hear we aren't the only crazy ones! You guys will do great! You're going there for the right reasons, because you want to!
If there's anything we can help you out with let us know, GOOD LUCK!

Megan, I came across your blog from looking at Tracy's blog. I hope you don't mind that I post. After seeing your post about Montrose I had to comment. Montrose is just 30-40 min. from where I am from. It is beautiful there, and I told my Erik that I would love to live there one day. I wish you the very best, and hope that you do decide to live there. Good luck all you do, and congrats on your new little girl (very soon). Jen Groves
Megan--you look great for 37 weeks! So jealous! We are very excited for you and your big plans for Montrose. I think it's fairly close to where we grew up -- 3 to 4hours, not sure! I know it's scary, but I think it will be a huge success! Congratulations!
What? Really?!!! That's so exciting. And scary. I am so nervous/excited for you guy. It looks like heaven. Just make sure to buy a place with an extra room for us to crash in. It looks gorgeous out there and I'm sure your little huntin' men and your gorgeous little girl (little GIRL! Can you believe you are going to have a little girl so soon?!!) are going to love it out there. So sad that you are leaving so soon, but I guess I am not surprised that you are going to end up in some gorgeous place in Colorado. Love it.
